Resist!

Away messages are totally rude. Tell people who need to know that you will be gone, and do not blast robot email at every spammer who has your address.

Thanks. I suppose I was in a foul mood that day. Hearing from folks like yourself gave me a much needed kick in the ego and I’m feeling much more optimistic about continuing my education. I’m registered for the next two semesters now, and I’m looking forward to the “good stuff”. I think my biggest gripe is that my passion lies in the actual front-end side of web design stuff, not so much the graphic design end of it. I figure that if I stick with school and keep up with best practices on the front-end I’ll be an excellent prospect for employment by the time I graduate.

For security purposes, the best way would be to find an open source forum built in PHP or something similar that you could tailor to what you want to do. I'd check over at SourceForge to see what's there.

I know I've seen forum code before but I can't recall the name at present.

Whitney, this is exactly why I tell artists not to rely on artist website templates. They’re inflexible and amateurish. I’d recommend having a professionally built site. It’ll be a hefty up front cost, but worth it in the long run.

Nice Post…Everyone in the world has preferences, tastes and passions when it comes to things that they see. Even the most curmudgeon of people would be delighted to see a sunset over the mountains or a natural waterfall…Even if you are not familiar with the technical aspects of website design and publishing, you can still create an online presence, and build brand reputation by engaging web design service providers that can create a design for you that fits your budget .

Looks like a Div conflict. Footer is in the same Div as your Flash. Separating them should help.
Try this:
</h2>
</div>
<!– Footer was here –>
</div><!– End of Div id="content" –>
<!– Moved Footer out of the Div: id="content" –>
<div id="footer">
<p>

</div>
</div>
</body>

Web and internet no longer need to be capitalized.

He or she is admiring your design so he or she is asking if you are the one created that design.

It sounds very much like the template label has been placed in your title.

open the web page in a text editor and look for the tags

<title>
</title>

whatever is written between those tags will be shown in the browser tab.

Lot of questions in one sentence!
- A "template" is a pre-designed website to which you have "just" to change the contents. Reserved to amateurs who do not have any graphic skills.
- "Web Development" is "making the design to work", that is CODING.
- "Site Design" or "Web Design": is an artist work to prepare a page/website, the way it will "look"… but does not work! You need the developer (above) to make it work.
- CMS: Content Management System. A kind of Integrated Development Environment that allows unskilled people to chancge the contents of their site themselves. Unfortunately, all CMS are written in complex languages such as Php, ASP, and require that knowledge to be used properly – which means that if you have the skills, you don't need them!!!
These CMS are often offered to "clients" as a website feature (so the client can update his website without the need of the coder. The problem? They are way TOO complex for the clients and are (nearly) never used by the client (or used the first month and then forgotten)
A waste of time, really!
A proper CMS is developped by professionals to fullfill the requirements of the client… and nothing else!
- e-commerce: many scripts available, but ALL too complex: they contain too many features that you do not need. Some of them are 20Meg in size, and the user only makes calls to a few functions. A HUGE overhead for nothing.
A proper e-commerce can be written in a few Kb of code by any professional (and that will be EXACTLY what the client needs).

I created my website ( http://www.ariellezwang.com ) using wix.com The link below I promise is not a virus or scam or anything…it's like a reference thing. I'm an affiliate of the company and if you decide to use it with the link below I get props basically! If you want help designing one I could help you out, I love making them. If not, wix makes basic templates very adaptable to any business, and they have very affordable hosting plans and templates. Right now I think they have a sale going on? Anyways, if you need help, I really am a technology geek. Don't hesitate to ask.

I'd like to recommend HD video editor to you, I always use it to edit video and make funny video for uploading to Youtube, it's easy to use and the quality is awesome, you can crop, cut, join, edit video with it easily. It also embeds many special effects, you can even add text to video or add background music, that's pretty cool. It worth a try. Here is the free download link.

You will see you won't get away with a price that low $300. Today you can go with a webhost domain at $12 or more, $50 is for a more industrial ready server if you need it.

What you are looking at isn't a flash template but a flash application which is a little more complex but not difficult. To control content you need to use dynamic side server code with a database to pull the data into xml format which is used with. You definitely need a database for your clients.

Why do you need a template if you won a web design competition, isn't that because you designed it or is template the new trend?

It is a theory in the same way that gravity is explained by the Theory of Intelligent Falling.

Sorry, but for something like that, If you do not even know where to begin, then (and I am sorry if this sounds harsh) you are obviously not experienced enough with web development. Such a game, even on a small scale, would take a lot of work, and you would have to be sufficient with a server-side language (such as PHP/ASP/CGI), and be experienced with database usage. Just knowing HTML, CSS, and JavaScript are simply not enough (though still important to know). If I were you, and I really wanted this site, I would start learning anything that i have mentioned above, that you do not already know. However, do not rush it. That will only lead to you winding up confused down the road and posting on forums about every problem you enocunter.

John, I can't believe nobody has mentioned etsy.com. It is the single best online marketplace for handcrafted goods. Just ask anybody who sells handcrafted items online.

Yes sure you buy hosting, set up your own web site, market it yourself, and hope for the best. But why do all that work when somebody else can do it for you?

Another place to try is eBay, but they tend to be pretty saturated with junk and it's hard to stand out from all the noise. Definitely check out etsy.

in german it's web design as well xD

The equation for an ellipse looks like:

(x – h)²/a² + (y – k)²/b² = 1

For example:

(x – 3)²/9 + (y – 7)²/25 = 1

Would be an ellipse with a center at (3, 7).

To draw it, first mark the center.

Then, count to the right √9 = 3 squares and mark the point (6, 7).

Then, starting at the center again, count to the left 0 squares and mark the point (0, 7).

Start again at the center but this time count up √25 = 5 squares, and mark the point (3, 12).

Then count down from the origin 5 squares and mark the point (3, 2).

Then draw the ellipse that connects those points.

——-

I'm not sure that "domain" and "range" properly apply to something that is not a function — which an ellipse is not, because it fails the "vertical line test" — but if the ellipse is written in standard form:

(x – h)²/a² + (y – k)²/b² = 1

Then the "domain" (in the sense of the x-values for which there will be at least one corresponding y-value) would be:

[h - a, h + a]

And the domain would be:

[k - b, k + b]

so for example:

(x – 3)²/9 + (y – 7)²/25 = 1

would have "domain" [3 - 3, 3 + 3] or [0, 6], and range [7 - 5, 7 + 5], or [2, 12].
