What Is The Importance Of Slicing And Coding A Template?

April, 15, 2011 • Posted by Editor 25 Comments

Templates are ready-made websites, which are available for use at any time when you wish to. Sometimes, it is important to slice and code a template away of managing the information in it. Normally, the online templates have the graphic layouts and presentation readily available for you in a skeleton structure. All you need to do is to add meat to the bones, in other words to add information to the structure. In computer language, the term slicing a template would refer to dissecting, various information into smaller sections, which are easy to manage. At the same time, the word coding is coined from an engineering field, which relates to building a custom-made object. These templates are included into the website design.

Slicing a template

For you to slice a template you will need to have the appropriate tools for that that effect. For example, the sliced template is the Adobes’ Photoshop, which is already made with the slicing tools, which leads to coding. The other example is the Dream Weaver, which has similar tools. However, you can only do the slicing in a template that is already in existence. You want to slice your website, you will need to perform a quick search on Google and different free templates will come out. The slicing method will enable you to design your own logo, a banner and some kind of texts, which you can store in your computer’s database. If you want to slice the Adobe Photoshop, you can do by opening the file menu and save your current website template first. After which you can use the tool bar to click to drag and the information. You can use this method to make changes around the phases of the logo box and background. After making these changes you can then save it as JPEG file.

Coding the Template

Furthermore, you can also do the coding on template by using the dream weaver. The best thing to do it is to launch the Dream weaver application then from the menu, you select HTML and open up a new page document and save it in a new folder. You can then transfer it to the file where sliced images that have been saved. You can also use the dream weaver to transfer sliced images to a new folder that makes it easy to manipulate the written texts, banner or logo as per your wish. You can then use this combination as designer platform to design new things.

The dream weaver is the most effective program for importing images, which you can then drag, and place where you want. Most HTML code operates through dream weaver. This is an effective tool for developing websites founded by Macromedia, but now uses the Windows Operating Systems. It is now incorporate into other web related technologies like Java Script, Server side, PHP, CSS and script languages. Through the Dreamweaver, you can preview some of the websites, which has been installed in the local web browsers.

Yes, they actually work if you bother to read the ad and mention it in your reply. After 50 Indians spam him with “I am excited to take on your web design and/or programming requirements” somebody who actually read the ad is a breath of fresh air.

I like the analogy to music, but honestly, I think programming itself, divorced from knowledge of operating systems, theoretical computer science, mathematics, web design, or other complementary skills, is not on the same level of technical difficulty as music. You don’t need to start as a child to become sufficiently competent to become a computing professional. You do need practice, though, and that is what is sorely lacking in the curriculum. His concern about the lack of sufficiently engaging practice problems is spot on. When all the programming assignments are about CS topics, they’re trying to teach CS and get programming as a freebie, instead of teaching programming as a skill in itself.I agree with you about teaching programming in high school and lower grades. Programming would be much more beneficial for most kids than advanced algebra, trigonometry, and calculus. Average people today need to understand their computers, their taxes, their employers’ benefits policies, and other logical and algorithmic systems much more than they need to understand radio waves, flow rates in pipes, or falling objects. The standard curriculum should include some programming at the expense of sequences and series, trigonometric identities, possibly any math beyond geometry, basic algebra, and using a calculator’s sine and cosine functions to compute the sides of a triangle.

I think you've answered you own question. The Zilla is the controller I hear the most positive comments about.

I've actually got an ancient GE EV1 controller in my vehicle (a 1981 Jet Electra Van.) Not too efficient, but it's been very reliable.

The quiz templates were removed from CS4 for legal reasons (I don't know the
specifics beyond that). For the solution look here in my link below.Hope i was able to help a fellow programmer.

Being certificated has proven to be of little value in practice.

They also seam to charge a smaller furtune ($8550 US) for something you can learn for free online, they do however mention hand-coding which is a good sign.

After i've reviewed their "Training Program", i must recommend that you leave it alone. They have not mentioned much about JavaScript / AJAX, or server-side programming such as PHP / MySQL.

They also seam to teach a lot of obsolate stuff, how to layout your pages using tables for instance. Its stuff like that you can figure out simply by doing a search on google. Why teach bad design practices?

Learning HTML + CSS shouldnt take longer then a few days, simply by following tutorials online, the same could be said about obsolate tools as dreamweaver, which some web designers for some reason insist on using.

I've never seen any useful point with WYSIWYG tools, and i've yet to encounter the tool to replace good old hand-coding, however there are many nice hand-coding editors, which make things easier.

You should know, that few recognized certificates exists, and even more are outdated and obsolate. They have stated on their website that they will be teaching XHTML, well thats rather ridiculous considering the difference between html and xhtml today is minimal. xhtml isn't exactly what i would chose for new sites, since the specification isn't fully supported by browsers, and since HTML 4.01 Strict performs just as well.

I'm waiting for HTML 5 and XHTML 2.0, at that point i'll decide if xhtml actually is better, but right now it seams ridiculous to chose xhtml just to add extra slashes to img tags and meta tags, not to mention br tags.

Consider emulating the most successful websites. For example, Amazon and Newegg would not have become heavyweight contenders in their fields if their website's design hadn't been excellent. I'm not trying to suggest that you should make a website to rival these, but pay attention to the subtleties of their design.

Check out this website for a list of basics, especially take note of the "breadcrumb" trail, which I consider to be an essential aspect of a GOOD website. Also try performing an internet search for "web design conventions" to see what others have to say.

Hope this helps!

Web designing is a general term that decribes creating a web page or web pages.

HTML..means HyperTextMarkupLanguage. Html is a web design tool. Html is used to design web pages. There are several ways to design web pages and html is one of them.

There are many ways to get a great looking web site but I strongly suggest you not do it with Flash. Everything included in your Flash can not be read by Search Engine Spiders and really cripples any chance of site rankings and getting found / popularity, etc.

Additionally, flash requires you have Adobe Flash Professional or similar software on your computer (very expensive and very complex for many users).

A better way to get a great looking web site is with CSS and DHTML. You do not need to learn html coding because there are many other applications out there besides Dreamweaver that can do this for you.

There is a Free version of NetObjects and Kompozer that are both WYSIWYG editors. No need to know html but both of those examples allow html editing, if desired.

Also grab a copy of FileZilla for easy FTP services (to move html files from desktop to server).

Try WordPress and JOOMLA out. Both of those guys offer editing via a built-in CMS meaning you need no software, everything can be done on the server side simply by logging into a admin panel.

Finally, is something called Artisteer can create web templates for you and then edit them using Notepad++ or any other html editor of your choice.

CoffeeCup software offers some neat software that is easy to use as well.

Good luck.

"What would be the cost to improve an existing web template?"

04.15.11

Run the site on your own computer, like a pro would. That's the server you're going to be running on when you go live (unless you opt for a Windows server), so you'll see it exactly the way the live server will send it.

When you search for 'interior design' on Yahoo you will see on the top right that there are 54,500,000 pages for 'interior design'

What you have to do is convince the search engines that your page (site) is more relevant than all the others for this particular search term. You do this with search engine optimization or SEO as it is called.

Spend some time studying this tutorial and if you are prepared to work hard you will achieve good rankings.

Photoshop is really ment for professionals who are willing to put the time and effort. The pictures you showed are 5 minute hack jobs. They simply took a photograph and used brushes. Litterly can be done in 5 minutes. There are no "Templates" in photoshop for designs. Only for Websites and Buissness Cards.

if you want to take the effort see actual digital artists.

You will have to define what makes something "better".

JavaScript is pretty darn good for offloading tasks from server to browser client. It's also pretty widely implemented and enabled. Other scripting options such as Adobe Flash are less likely to be enabled.

That's a good place to start. It has lots of HTML tutorials and goes into other things such as Javascript, AJAX and CSS.
